About me

I’m Carmen (she/her/Ella), the clinician behind Veritas Therapy and Wellness.

I grew up in San Diego, California and obtained both my bachelors and masters degree at San Diego State University.

I began my career working with individuals with cognitive and psychiatric disabilities as a social worker and through that time finished my masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with an emphasis on treating psychiatric disorders. I’ve worked with adults, teens, and children from various socio economic and cultural backgrounds in psychiatric hospitals, substance use outpatient programs, homeless shelters, non-profit mental health clinics, and insurance based private practices. I’ve continued to focus on working with adults who inspire me and amaze me daily.

To best advocate and collaborate with clients, I regularly engage in peer consultation and trainings and work diligently to educate myself on topics including mental health, human rights, politics, and policies.

WHEN I’M NOT IN SESSION…

I am on adventures with my four-year-old son exploring our lovely city San Diego, engaging in movement like yoga, pilates or running, sharing time with my loved ones, or simply enjoying a nice cup of coffee while I snuggle and read my favorite books. My guilty pleasures include relatable memes and TikToks.

I really believe I have the best job in the world and have worked with some truly exceptional people. I’m beyond excited to be able to offer Veritas Therapy and Wellness virtually to people in California! I hope to hear from you soon!
